GTA 6 PS5 release date: 19 November 2026

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 on 19 November 2026 Confirmed, simultaneously with Xbox Series X|S. That is the single most important fact on this whole site, and unlike almost everything else circulating about GTA 6, it comes straight from Rockstar Games. The live countdown below ticks down to that exact moment.

How the date was set and confirmed

The road to a confirmed release date was long, and worth knowing if you want to understand why fans treat 19 November 2026 with cautious relief rather than blind certainty.

  • Rockstar revealed the first GTA 6 trailer in December 2023, naming a broad 2025 launch window Confirmed.
  • In May 2025, Rockstar delayed the game, moving it to 26 May 2026 Confirmed.
  • In a later update, Rockstar shifted the date again to its current target of 19 November 2026 Confirmed.

Two delays in, the date now sits in Rockstar's traditional autumn release slot, the same window that has historically suited a tentpole launch heading into the holiday season. Take-Two has reiterated the timing on earnings calls, which is the strongest signal a publisher gives short of the disc shipping.

Is the date final?

No release date is ever guaranteed until a game is in players' hands, and GTA 6 has already moved twice. That said, the closer a game gets to launch, the firmer the date becomes, because marketing, manufacturing and the pre-order window all lock around it. Rockstar has not yet announced when pre-orders open, but the 19 November release date is confirmed and now load-bearing in a way the earlier windows never were. We treat it as confirmed and will flag any change the moment Rockstar announces one.

Does PS5 launch at the same time as Xbox?

Yes. GTA 6 releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on the same day Confirmed. There is no confirmed PlayStation-exclusive head start, and no confirmed delay for either platform. If you are still deciding which machine to buy, the PS5 vs Xbox Series X guide weighs the real decision factors.

What about "early access" three days early?

You may have seen claims that a premium edition will let you play GTA 6 up to 72 hours before launch. Rockstar has not announced any early-access window for GTA 6 Leak / rumour. The idea is plausible, because Take-Two has used early-access perks on other titles, but for GTA 6 specifically it is unverified speculation, often tied to the rumoured Deluxe and Collector's editions. Until Rockstar reveals the pre-order and edition details, treat any "play early" promise as a leak, not a fact.

Release date vs preload date

The 19 November date is when the game unlocks and becomes playable. It is not when you can start downloading. PlayStation typically opens preload a few days earlier so the install finishes before the clock strikes. Based on the usual 3-to-7-day window, that points to roughly mid-November 2026 for preload Leak / rumour, but Rockstar has not confirmed a preload date.
